Organic Farming and Biodiversity

The property’s 130 hectares are a guarantee that the environment and the chateau’s surroundings will be preserved.  Most of the land is used for crops but there is also a small population of furry farmers on the banks of the River Cèze: the beavers!  After planting an arboretum and a variety of species on the site of an abandoned poplar grove in 2000, we have created a number of orchards on the uncultivated land surrounding the chateau:

·         3 olive groves, 2 of which were planted in 2002 and 1 in 2007 for producing olive oil

·         the orchards beneath the orangery with 120 different fruit varieties, most of which are partly "forgotten".

All the orchards are operated in accordance with the rules of organic farming.
